By taking The University of Washington IT degrees, you may be able to complete your studies in fewer semesters, thus reducing your tuition cost. Which degrees will give you the best chances of landing a job after you graduate? Some students select a major because it teaches them practical skills that are valuable in the workplace. Other students choose their major because they love the subject. The most popular college major is business, split equally between men and women. On the other hand, men make up the majority of computer science and engineering majors. Computer science majors study topics ranging from software development to robotics and game design. Graduates in these fields typically tend to be very well-paid. On the list of women’s popular majors, education, English and liberal arts dominate.

Online courses support faculty innovation in teaching, by requiring professors to develop new materials that are adapted to online presentation. Distance education enables students who cannot commute to campus, such as the severely disabled, to have access to accredited courses. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.

Doing business online is a great option to supplement your income while still a student. By registering a domain name, pointing the name servers to your hosting company, then building an active website via a WordPress template, you're in the game. Similar to magazine page layout, website design success is governed by two factors, visitor traffic and online sales conversions. There are many search engines from which you can buy pay-per-click advertising, with Google Adwords being the most popular.

Online Courses - MOOCs

The University of Washington pagenameIf a high school student is passionate about going to a particular college, but doesn't have the grades, he or she may try to apply for a degree major that is less popular, or harder for the school to fill. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.

Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.

An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.

Computer Training

While some fields require that you have a four-year degree just to get a job interview, other high-paying careers like computer programming, health care, or small business administration, can be entered with an associates degree. A given website's success is governed by two factors, visitor traffic and online sales conversions. Think about the type of online business that you want to start, and then build an e-Commerce website using a template or HTML, adding a database and programming routines.

The easiest way to start is by authoring a daily blog, and monetize your traffic with Google Adsense. You can drive targeted visitors to your site at a reasonable cost by learning search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. You can also make money with affiliate programs, or charge monthly membership fees, if making certain types of Android OS websites. Just web page design and layout isn't enough, if no-one can find it in Google search results. You'll also need online marketing skills, the ability to drive conversions, via a call to action.

Business & Medical Job Listings

Although most jobs which pay six-figure salaries require a college degree, technical fields offer high salaries based more on ability than which school you graduated from. Students will impress future bosses more with an impressive portfolio than with an advanced degree, so practice your skills as a consultant for local companies. Candidates with prior industry experience are preferred by interviewers, so you resume must show a clear pattern of success over time, based on numeric results and personal achievements.

Students will receive classroom instruction and clinical training in a hospital setting. A 4-year BSN program allows students to further specialize in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health. After completing your nursing education, you must be licensed by the state in which you'll be practicing, given that state boards of nursing each have specific certification requirements.
